The inspiration for this podcast developed out of a desire to help others hear what is written in Scripture by explaining it in a simple but undiluted manner. I hope to accomplish this by modeling a way of hearing Scripture that embraces the words as they come to us directly from the Greek and Hebrew texts.
My goal is for listeners to hear what the text is saying to them without any external filters or lenses being applied to it. Summarizing, defining words, and explaining how words function in the Greek and Hebrew texts are techniques we frequently abandon in favor of others used to extract meaning from the text. I will be submitting to what text says instead of requiring it to submit to my ideas, values, and perspectives. In this podcast, Scripture will serve as the only reference point, and I pray that the ability to simply hear what Scripture has to say for itself will prove edifying for those listening. In so doing, questions may arise that cannot be answered in that moment by the text itself. While this may prove frustrating at times, my hope is that with patience and perseverance, those listening will develop an appreciation of and sense of expectation for what the text will say next.
